Labyrinth encrusted

mosaic fresco labyrinth

Reproduction of the Labyrinth of Chartres

Destination Comtat Venaissin (Provence)

Architect's order for the entrance hall of a private house.

For the sake of harmony and a soft visual, the work was done in the same marble (Travertine) that covers the entire floor of the villa and the contrast is attenuated by a light-coloured joint in the interior path gaps.

Dimension: Exactly 1/8th of the original

Production

This labyrinth includes about 450 pieces. Each piece was made using templates made from the plan*.

Cut one by one, ground and then adjusted to each other, the labyrinth is built circle by circle. The whole is glued on a net, itself then re-cut in several parts to be transported and put in situ.

After having cut into the ground and hollowed out the space necessary for the labyrinth, the parts are positioned and glued. Only the festoons are glued “separately”.

The final assembly is grouted and then repainted on the surface.
